UPA wins ... but did India too?
So, the UPA government scraped through ... but not before high drama in the parliament with certain MPs flashing money supposed to be given to them by UPA allies as bribes on live television being watched eagerly around the world. (At least Doordarshan got some TRPs back)
The point still remains that the house remains very divided, which is sure to hamper the functioning of the government. I hope the next general election (in less than a year's time) provides a clearer mandate by the people of the world's largest democracy.
In the meantime, the following statement by Rahul Gandhi in his address to the parliament shows the flicker of hope for a growing India ...
MPs should think how India can impact upon the world rather than thinking about how the world impacts India

I wonder if it will be any clearer in the elections! But then we must hope for the best :)
And about the statement by Rahul Gandhi, I can only say its the old wine in new bottle! Its just that this same thing has been said in different ways earlier. But yes, it does give flicker of hope.
I do not know what they wanted to show off by getting that money to parliament.Anyways , if only they had brains :(
Rahul Gandhi's recent statement does give a hope , but I do not know if thats the politics in his genes talking.
But this whole episode , does give the confidence to the coming governments to form their stands instead of the coliation parties and stick to it. Two people's ego (self respect ????) may help other politicians to do what they really believe is in nation's interest. (Though I feel that half of the left was against withdrawl of support.) The speaker also showed that a speaker CAN have his own stand as well.
